my favourite creations from 2013

Hello. I used to do this when I first started blogging, doing a year in review of my favourite posts from that year. But one year I stopped and I never did it again. Although each year end, I do think about it. I'm a bit of a don't look back person, but always look forward, what happened, happened, let's not dwell on it, just look to the future.

Anyway, maybe I had a bad year, the year that I decided to stop. So now, I think I will have my 2013 year in review. I am writing this before I have selected my pieces, so even I am intrigued as to what I will come up with! Hold tight! Also I like to select one piece from each month, so this is what I will do.

January:

I think January belonged to Isabella. Difficult to colour, but I love the softness and vintageness of the entire piece and the diecut detail. Check her out: HERE.

February:

This was a commission for a 50th birthday album and had to feature cats. I had soooo much fun with this. Check it out HERE.

March:

This was difficult, as I made a few pieces I liked this month. But I chose this one as it was the first time EVER that I had done a white on white theme. Loved how it turned out, but still haven't done one since! This was a journal, which you can check out HERE.

April:

This was no contest. A sweet 6th birthday card, made for a dear sweet girl I know. Check it out HERE.

May:

Dreams are renewable. I remember wanting to create lots of layers and this is my favourite La Blanche stamp. Used several times now. Check it out HERE.

June:

Where flowers bloom. I don't know. Bright, sunny colours do it for me everytime! Check out the dimension HERE.

July:

Well it seems I lost my mojo for a while, as I had only one posting in July. Fortunately it is one I like and I think worthy of a mention here. I made a box for holding recipe cards. Still love it!

August:

Frantaged to the hilt, but I love THIS.

September:

OK. This was the time I really got into Sizzix dies. Made this cute wallhanging, with a little notepad tucked inside. Check it out HERE:

October:

Hmmm, once again a difficult choice. However, I went with my Sizzix love at the time and the birdhouse I made. I love birdhouses, real or imagined.

November:

November was my most prolific month of the year! I made a few things that I like, but this mixed media collage is my absolute favourite and I'm not sure that I could ever bear to be parted from it. For those who don't follow me regularly, mixed media was a medium that I started to dabble in, in 2013 and this was a piece that I created which I still love. Check it out HERE.

December:

Well I end the year with another mixed media piece, which I love. Expect to see MORE in 2014. I am still learning and still loving it, so who knows where it will go. Check this piece out HERE.

Thank you for looking.

baby ... it's cold outside

Good morning! Today at Crafts 4 Eternity, we have a tic tac toe challenge. Just choose any horizontal, vertical or diagonal line from the diagram below.

I have used: blue, paper piecing and stamping.

As you can see, I have used another Prima Doll. Rather belatedly, I think I am hooked! I have also used a tag fromthe Prima Tag Pad and covered it entirely in cardstock again.

Papers: Bo Bunny ~ Snowfall. These are GORGEOUS! I can't quite believe how long it has taken me to use them. The colours are right up my alley!!

The mitten is a Spellbinders die.

The snowflakes were created with a La-La Land ~ Ornate Snowflakes die. These are so beautiful! Very intricate.

she had Spring in her heart

Good morning! Today at Everybody Art Challenge we have a sketch for you to follow.

I decided to dig out my Prima doll stamps, not used before! I'm always the first to buy and the last to use it seems!! Anyway, I so enjoyed making this, that I went and bought some of the other doll stamps that I didn't yet have.

I used one of the tags from the Prima Tag Pad, but really, as I covered it with cardstock, I could have used any old scrap of card!

I then inked some patterns in black ink and inked some green leaves, both using Dylusions stamps. Then I painted on some script using a stamp and white paint. On top of that, I added some texture paste through a Memory Box ~ Texture Flourish stencil.

For the girl, I coloured her face and arms with copics and paper pieced the rest of her.

All papers are Glitz Design ~ Scarlett.

The flowers and butterfly are by Prima

I printed the sentiment from my computer and cut it out.

Thank you for looking.

how long will I love you?

Good evening! I am very late posting this week for the sketch challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity. I was a bit late starting this project, but really wanted to use this week's fabby sketch.

For my project I have created another mixed media collage. Expect to see LOTS of these in 2014, as I am loving doing them, although I am still experimenting, so it will be interesting to see what my work looks like in a year's time. Sorry, my photo is a bit blurry.

For my base, I started with a sticky backed canvas sheet. I will mount this onto chipboard, but haven't done so yet, hence why it looks so wonky.

I then covered it with cardboard scraps, but even I am struggling to see those now.

Mediums used: distress paint, distress stain, gold gelato.

I have used a Memory Box ~ Butterfly Vine stencil, combined with texture paste at the top.

The dimensional butterflies were stamped from the Tim Holtz ~ Papillon CMS106 stamp set and cut out.I have also used these stamps as part of my background.

The image was created from a Penny Black ~ Melle Papillon stamp. Creating that dress, very nearly drove me crazy!

She is set onto a Spellbinders die cut.

The sentiment: How love will I love you?

When I showed it to my other half, he said: 'that's a bit pessimistic isn't it?' Well it comes from a love song of the same name, by Ellie Goulding.

Go check out the song if you don't know it:

love is all around ... mixed media hanging heart

Good morning! May I wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

Today is my first challenge of the New Year and we are looking for VERY VINTAGE at Crafts 4 Eternity.

I've created another Mixed media piece, this time a hanging heart.

I have used an mdf die cut heart as the base. It is quite big, 12 inches high!

I started off by adding some music themed cardstock, which you can just about see peeking through.

I've added lots of layers with distress stains and paint. In the above photo you can see a bit of vintage netting.

The image is by Pion Design. I've added some stamped layers and rub-ons with some Prima decoration. You should be able to see a bit of doily as one of the layers.

I have just used letter stickers for the words, which I just distressed up a bit.

More netting.
