let yourself be loved

'When you learn to love and let yourself be loved, you come home to the hearth of your own spirit'.

This posting fits two challenges:
  • Stamp Something Challenge where the challenge is to add a little summer to our winter days with summery colours, a summer theme, or anything that will warm and brighten your day. What a great theme! Such a lovely feeling to know that summer days lie ahead and as each day passes a little bit more of winter gets left behind.
  • Created by Hand Challenge where the challenge is to use the colours red or pink in your creation. Well, there is plenty of red here.
The patterned papers used are from We R Memory Keepers ~ Nonsense collection. The background circles paper is Drip Drop. I made the tree by cutting out a swirl from Silly Sally and the leaves and flowers from Jingle Jangle. The cute little bird is from Sing Song. All motifs were layered onto either cardstock or grungeboard, depending on whether I wanted them to lay completely flat or to have a bit of dimension. I then inked up the edges and clear embossed them. The flowers were further layered with paper flowers and had buttons sewn on for the centres.

The stamp used to create the building is from Paper Artsy ~ Love & Kisses. I stamped different parts of this image onto Wishy Washy papers. I inked up the roof and the door with red ink and clear embossed. The main part of the building was embossed with gold and I cut the centre bit separately using a piece of green paper from my scraps and green ink. The parts of the building and door were stuck to grungeboard to create different layers of dimension, before inking up and embossing the edges.

two birds

My entry today fits in with three challenges:

The Lots To Do Challenge is to 'add a frame somewhere on your work'. I have frames around my birds.
The Sunday Stamper Challenge is to 'make something that features the colour blue'.
The TGIF Challenge is to 'make your own book or use a book stamp'.
I have made a little book with a bird theme in shades of pale yellow and turquoise blue.
I used a pale yellow bazzill cardstock as my base and inked and embossed the edges. The birdcage paper is by Hambly Screen Prints. I machined this onto the cardstock with zigzag stitch and distressed the edges.
The bird stamps are from Crafty Individuals. I inked them up in blue, stamped them onto patterned paper and then clear embossed. I created a little extra dimension by making a separate cardstock frame for them to sit on.

The plain brads and buttons used are by Basic Grey and the jewelled buttons were in my stash. The flowers are Prima and the ribbons by We R Memory Keepers, Fancy Pants and Making Memories.
Thank you for looking.

love letter

I created a card using this week's sketch at Friday Sketchers.

This is a fabulous sketch and I had great fun with it.
I used cardstock from Making Memories ~ Paperie: LgFloral Rouge and BigDot Rouge. I layered on to Bazzill cardstock and zigzag stitched it altogether with my sewing machine.

I cut the tiny tag with my Cricut machine and used a rub-on to add the word 'love'.

The flowers are a mixture of Prima and Hero Arts and I used a variety of brads from my stash.

The image is from the Magnolia Valentine Collection and is Tilda with letter. I coloured her with my copics and then layered her onto a double mat of bazzill cardstock. As you can see, I rolled the edges of the cardstock.

Thank you for looking.

Cherish ... young love

This is a mini album that combines two challenges:

Created by Hand ~ Tuesday Challenge: the challenge here is to use the word 'love' somewhere on your creation.

Theme Thursday Challenge: the challenge is to use the theme 'Couples' somewhere on your creation.

The papers are by Basic Grey. I used a stamp by Paperartsy ~ Young Love 2 which I inked up with red ink and then embossed the young couple. All metalware is by Tim Holtz ... of course! Ribbons were in my stash.

Thank you for looking.

Happy Birthday - Mojo Monday card

I made a card for my Mother's birthday using this week's sketch on the Mojo Monday blog. Here is the sketch:
Here is the full sized version of my card which ended up measuring 7 by 8 inches!

I made a card base out of red cardstock. The stripey background cardstock is My Mind's Eye ~ Laundry Line: Coastal "Lucky" Lucky Run Paper. I love this cardstock with it's shimmery touchy feel.

I coloured up Magnolia ~ Tilda with Sunflower with my Copic markers.

As this card is not intended for the summertime, I decided to cut out the sunflower that Tilda is holding and replace it with a flower which I made from a paper flower, a rub on from K&Co ~ Glitter Rub Ons: Urban Rhapsody and a brad through the centre. The border around Tilda and the butterfly are from the same set of rub-ons.

The circles are all cut from My Mind's Eye ~ Laundry Line: Coastal "Curious" Curiously Large Spots paper. I rolled up the edges and added Anna Griffin rub-ons for 'MUM'.

The 'Happy Birthday' tag is made from a Papermania ~ Secret Garden stamp. The sentiment is by Penny Black. I inked the stamps up with Colorbox inks and clear embossed them. The strip of sheer gold ribbon is from my stash. The shaped flower buttons are Doodlebug ~ Ladybug Posies and Swimming Pool Posies which I stitched on with gold DMC thread.

time flies

This is a 'Time Flies' mini book and is my entry today for three challenges:

The Lots To Do challenge blog has a theme of 'time';
The Everybody-Art Challenge blog has a theme of 'everthing but a card'; and
The Arty Girlz Challenge blog has a theme of 'anything but a card'.

I painted two pieces of chipboard with Tim Holtz ~ Distress Crackle Paint: Old Paper and when dry, rubbed Tim Holtz ~ Distress Ink: Mustard Seed into the cracks. I spritzed it with water and rubbed some of the ink off.
The clock is by Magnolia, I stamped it on and embossed with gold embossing powder. The door knob is a Tim Holtz ~ Hitch Fastener and the keyhole is Tim Holtz ~ Grunge board which I inked up with Tim Holtz ~ Adirondack Mixatives: Gold.
The chipboard letters 'TIME' are K & Co ~ Classic K Margo and I just glued them on without tampering in any way! The bird is a K&Co ~ Glitter Rub On: Urban Rhapsody which I rubbed on to a piece of Tim Holtz grunge board and cut out.

The chipboard letters 'flies' are American Crafts ~ Thickers: Gift Box. Again I inked these up with the gold as I did also with the Bazzill chipboard key.
Gold ribbons are from my stash.
Thank you for looking.
