keep out ... mixed media door hanger

Hello! This week at Crafts 4 Eternity the challenge is to use three elements beginning with the same letter. I have: white, wood and words!

I choose to decorate a wooden doorhanger.

I started off with by covering the hanger with a layer of patterned paper, covered part of it with a doily and then got to work with stencils, paint and ink.

Then I used a Tim Holtz Halloween blueprint, which I stamped out several times on the same patterned cardstock which I had used as my base. I cut a few layers and layered it up.

Finally I added some words with a few stickers, which I distressed up a bit.

she mailed a lettter the other day

It's Monday, which means a new challenge at Cupcake Craft Challenges. The challenge is to use something recycled.

I have recycled a hessian sack, which previously contained bird nuts and an art canvas.

I saw this idea somewhere on the internet. The idea is to decorate the back of the canvas. I have gone for a Valentine's theme with the idea that little love letters can be tucked inside.

I decorated the sides and the top of the frame with papers from the 7gypsies ~ Avignon and Barcelona lines. Strips of ribbon line the aperture.

The inside is covered with more of the 7gypsies papers. Then I've layered it with lace doilies and a brad.

I made three little tags to go inside and decorated them.

Here are the fronts ...

... and here are the backs.

I decorated a Kaisercraft wooden padlock with words stamped from a PaperArtsy stamp and hung it from a 7gypsies ~ loop & hook display trim.

I stapled the hessian sack to the frame.

I decorated the sack with ribbons and buttons. I made the postcard using a Papermania stamp, added a red vintage postage stamp and tied a Tim Holtz ~ corked vial and pen nib to the postcard with some baker's twine.

I am going to enter this into the following challenges:

vintage 2012 calendar

Hello, I hope you all had a good weekend, over too soon I know. But Monday is Cupcake day so can't be too bad. So, over at Cupcake Craft Challenges, we have a new challenge, which is colour on kraft.

Well I must admit, when I first saw this challenge, my heart sank. I thought I could never colour on kraft with copics. BUT ... WOW!! I started colouring and was amazed how easy it was. The only difference was that my darkest shade of each colour had to be a shade darker than I usually use.

From the outset, I had decided I would make a 2012 calendar in a cd case.

Papers used throughout: Making Memories ~Travel 6 x 6 pad. So good to use some of these papers as I've had them for 3 years and never been used.

Image: Magnolia ~Tilda in Spring Rain. I coloured her with copics and added some stickles.
I made the flowers with my Marianne Design ~ English Rose die. So awesome, I love this! Need never buy another flower again ... but don't hold me to that! I added some stickles to glitz it up a bit.

I made the template for the calendar using excel. Took me forever, but I am pleased with the end result.

Here is the cd jewel case.
and here are my calendars ...

O, Frosty the Snowman

Hello! Did we all have a sunny and beautiful weekend? I wish it was like this all year round.

Today I am coming at you as guest designer for Cupcake Craft Challenges for the month of October. Thank you so much for having me, I am very pleased to be here.

The challenge this week is BLACK AND WHITE CHRISTMAS!

For my entry I have decorated a paper bag and then made a matching notebook to pop inside, to make a little Christmas pressie.

Here is the front.

For my papers I used Teresa Collins ~ Christmas Home: Christmas Damask papers, although I used the side with the snowflakes on it!

For the cover of the bag I made a tag using a Black Ranger Craft Tag. I rubbed some Picket Fence ~ Distress Stain over it and ran it through the Snow Flurries Texture Fades embossing folder. I then brayered the raised snowflakes with Fresco Finish ~ Snowflake paint and inked the edges with black ink. I've not done this before and so was quite pleased with the finished tag.

The image is Magnolia ~ Frosty the Snowman with Snowflake which I coloured with copics. This is my 100th Magnolia posting!!

For the front of the notebook, I just used an uncoloured version of the image.

Here is the back:

For the back I have used Magnolia ~ O Frosty the Snowman (text) stamp.

I am going to pop this in at the following challenges:
Thank you for looking.

baking cakes clipboard notebook

This is my entry for just two competitions.

I have used this week's sketch at Just Magnolia. At least I have as far as I am able to with the clipboard. I have used some artistic licence as far as the flowers are concerned.

This is how my clipboard notebook started out, before I started messing.

I am also entering this into the challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar where the theme is 'kitchen/cooking'.

You'll need to click on the photos to see them a bit more clearly.

All papers are from the October Afternoon ~ Cherry Hill collection. These papers caused me no end of frustration. Having coloured Tilda to match the pink and blue papers, I then had no end of difficulty in tieing it into the red. The jury is still out on that one.

I have used three Magnolia stamps:

~ Baking Tilda with wooden spoon

~ Shelf with napkins

~ Cake

I coloured them all with my copics.

Thank you for looking.

altered skull

My mojo seems to have gone off for a walk this week, so unlike me. I've started a few projects, but can't seem to finish them, so I have a few things in various stages of completion.

I did manage to finish altering a skull today though. This has been on and off my craft table for the past week. Of course, it's not a real skull. It started off life looking like this:

I think it is made from a piece of MDF.

I am entering this into 11 challenges.

At My Time to Craft Challenge the theme is Halloween colours.

The Paperminutes challenge is that 'the shape of the card fits the theme'.

'F is for flying' is the theme at ABC Challenge -I have bats on my project.

Theme Thursday has a challenge of 'faces'.

Lots to Do has a recipe challenge of 'stamping, paint and metal'.

Finally, Our Creative Corner ask us to be 'inspired by our favourite holiday', mine is Halloween.

All the papers used are from My Mind's Eye ~ The Spider's Web collection. There's a lot of distressing going on.

I used a mixture of Tim Holtz crackle paint, crackle accents and stickles.

It was really difficult trying to get a decent photo, so I have included a few here. If you click on the images, you may be able to see it better.

For the bats flying out of the top of the skull's head, I used an Inkadinkado ~ Happy Haunting stamp, which I also embossed. (I absolutely love this new range of Inkadinkado stamps and have accumulated a few now, so expect to see more on my projects).

The '31' numbers are metal Tim Holtz ~ Numerals which I've layered with acrylic paint and crackle paint. The crackle paint on the numbers hadn't finished its crackle process at the time of taking these photos.

I'm not quite sure what I will do with it now, but I'm mulling over a few ideas, whilst wondering when my mojo will put in an appearance.

Thank you for looking.
