Mikey plays guitar

Have you seen the new guy in town at Dottie's World? There is a new set of downloads featuring Mikey - just ideal for teenage boy cards.

That leads me on to my card this week. The challenge as set by Adele is to 'create a card or project geared towards a teenager'. I for one couldn't resist playing with the new downloads, so here is my card.

I am entering this into three other challenges:
Everybody Art challenge where the challenge is to 'use only one scrap paper'.
Cute Card Thursday where the challenge is 'to either tear, sand, distress or sew the edges of your card'.
Cafe Mojo Challenges where the challenge is 'technique: inking'.
The paper I used is from the Prima ~ Harmony Collection. I inked up and distressed the edges and created a little distressed cut out with a Tim Holtz 'PLAY' ticket peeking through. I added a Tim Holtz philosophy tag 'LISTEN' with a brad. Mikey playing the guitar feels well at home here amongst the musical notes.
Thank you for looking.

alva with flower

Today's card is being entered into three challenges:

This is the sketch this week at Stampavie and more.

At Stamp Something, the challenge is to make something which has showers, flowers or both. Well, I have no showers, but there are plenty of flowers.

At Our Creative Corner, the challenge is to use our own favourite colour combo. I love this combination of blue, green and brown.

Here is my card:
All patterned papers are from the Bo Bunny ~ Abbey Road collection. I cut the scalloped edges with my Fiskars ~ Daisy border punch.

This Magnolia image is Alva with Flower I coloured her with my copics and added a little bell to her hat.
Buttons and brads are Basic Grey. Ribbons and flowers are a mixture from my stash.

Thank you for looking.

creative ~ altered tin

I decided to alter up the tin from a Woodware ~ scrapbook in a tin, to give to my niece as part of her birthday present.

This altered tin is being entered into two challenges:

Papertake Weekly Challenge where I have used the sketch and spun it on it's side.
Cafe Mojo Challenges where the theme is stash: buttons.
I painted my tin with Tim Holtz ~ Crackle paints both inside and out. I added a lighter colour paint in the middle of the lid to create a frame for my image.
I stuck a bobble trim all the way round the bottom tin, so that it sits just underneath the lid.
The image I used is Anya from The Greetings Farm. I coloured her with my copics and then covered her with Crackle Accents. If you click on the photo you can see her in all her crackle glory. I love the effect this gives and will certainly be using this technique again in the future.
The 'creative' expoxy sticker is from K & Co ~ Amy Butler range.
Ribbons and buttons are from my stash.
Below you can see a pic showing the inside.
The tin comes with a fold out concertina style card in five sections for altering up as a mini scrapbook. I am going to cut up some cardstock (in colours to match the tin decoration) to fit each square on both sides and add those to the tin, together with some matching embellishments. She's a creative person so she will have fun making up the scrapbook and adding some photos to it.

Thank you for looking.

aged 9

I needed a birthday card for my niece's 9th birthday and as I was using a Magnolia stamp, I thought I would try out the sketch at the new Magnolia challenge blog: Just Magnolia.

It says that you can combine this with as many challenges as you would like so I am also going to enter this into three other challenges:

Cute Card Thursday where the challenge is to use any type of flower.

Dutch Dare Card Challenge where the challenge is to use your favourite things. My favourite things at the moment are my new craft punches.

One Stop Craft Challenge where the challenge is to use decorative cuts.
This is probably the largest card I have ever made, measuring 6" x 12". It just kept growing! I will redo the photos, the lighting wasn't at its best.

I used papers from the Cosmo Cricket ~ Girl Friday collection: Thursday, Monday and Saturday.

I used two Magnolia stamps ~ Sweetheart and Birthday Present and I coloured them with my copics. I created a background for Tilda using Tim Holtz crackle paints and inks.
The number '9' was a chipboard diecut which I painted and then added some crackle accents.
I created the circles behind Tilda with my new Fiskars ~ Daisy border punch.
For the zig zags at the bottom of the card, I used my new Martha Stewart ~ Zigzag edge punch. This was from my friend Deb, she does spoil me ~ but THANK YOU!
Flowers and brads were from my stash and the sentiment is Penny Black.
Thank you for looking.

celebrate ... christmas

Christmas! Yes, that's right. The challenge this week at Dottie's World as set by Karen, is 'a Christmas project with a Charmed download'. Here is my card:

I am also entering this into:
A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge where the challenge is 'to use diecuts or punches' - I have used both.
The image I have used is Madison Goes to the Ball. Well it just so happens that this is a Christmas ball!
This card has a real glittery feel to it. The cardstock I used is S.E.I ~ Alpine Frost: dust of snow and if you zoom in on the picture you will be able to see the glittery snowflakes.
The collar of Madison's dress is dusted with glitter, as are her shoes and champagne. She even has a diamond (looking) choker! Madison is backed onto Doodlebug ~ Lily White sugar coated cardstock and the corners have been cut with a Fiskars corner punch.
The chipboard diecut 'Celebrate!' is by K&Co, I just raised it up on foam pads.
The flowers are by Prima and I added a glitter brad to the centre. The branches are made from the Doodlebug cardstock using my new Martha Stewart craft punch - a pressie from my friend Deb. Thank you very much!! I love my new punch!
Thank you for looking.

cup cakes ...

The challenge this week at Sukkersott is a sketch.

I was inspired by the paper from the Pink Paislee ~ Sweet Cakes collection to make a little book for cupcake recipes.
The image is my new Mary Hall stamp Cute As Cupcakes. I coloured her with my copics and I think she quite likes it here.
I backed the design onto a piece of vellum so that the DP would show through from underneath.

I painted some chipboard letters to spell out cup cakes... and inked the edges. I cut several circles from one of the sheets of DP and distressed the edges, before layering them up and popping a padded heart on top.
The epoxy buttons were sewn on by hand.

Thank you for looking.

it's your birthday

I needed a birthday card and I loved the look of this week's sketch at Mojo Monday.

I made a base card from Bazzill cardstock. All patterned papers are from the S.E.I ~ Black Orchid collection and I inked up all the edges with black.

The image is Gorjuss Girl ~ Purrfect Friend and I coloured her with my copics.

The sentiment is by Penny Black and I embossed it with black glitter embossing powder.

Flowers are Prima and I used a Doodlebug crushed velvet brad for the centre. Buttons are from my stash.
Happy Birthday!! Hope you have a great day. xx
Thank you for looking.

teen grunge

Ooooh! I was really excited to see Nicola's challenge for this week's Sunday challenge at Dottie's World. Here is the challenge:
'Hand Made...I dont want to see any ready made backing papers or embellishments. I want to see hand printed/stamped or coloured backing papers and embelishments, can be anything from a flower to shrink plastic etc... And of course a Charmed download'
I had so many ideas for this, but when I had finished it I realised I hadn't used half the stuff I had intended to on it. Nevermind, I'll save them for another time. I am also entering this into the challenge at One Stop Craft Challenge where the challenge this week is 'TORN'.

This is what I came up with:

First of all, I took a piece of chipboard and painted it with Tim Holtz ~ Crackle Paint. When it was dry, I rubbed some ink into the cracks. I also stamped some diamonds at random.
I tore a piece of corrugated card from the box of a recent stash delivery - appropriate? I inked it up with Ranger inks and smudged on some acrylic paint.
The image, of course is Madison with Attitude. As soon as I saw the challenge, I knew that I would be using her. I coloured her with my copics.
I made some hinges again using crackle paint, which I inked up and cut out.
The letters of the word 'TEEN' were stamped out onto card and cut out. To make them show up against the background, I dabbed some acrylic paint. I'm quite pleased I did this as it has shown up the cracks of the crackle paint even better!
I hope that you are all having a wonderful bank holiday. Even if the weather isn't what it should be, there is always ..... chocolate ...... yum! Happy Easter!

Thank you for looking.
And if you'd like to leave a comment I would love to hear it.

wish upon a star

My entry today is for two challenges:

<<< Sketch and Stash Challenge has provided this sketch. The sentiment and embellishments can go wherever you would like. Also to use your new, never used or neglected stash.

The image I've used is new but I've had it a while so it could also be called neglected!

The second challenge is from the Stampavie and More Challenge, where the challenge is 'red and white'. My white is a little off-white.

The plain card is bazzill. The patterned papers are October Afternoon ~ Nightlight: Jack.

The large star shapes were cut on my Cricut and the smaller star shapes were cut from grungeboard and painted with Tim Holtz ~ Crackle Paint and inked up.
I punched holes into two of the stars and stitched them on as buttons. The word 'WISH' was made using American Craft Thickers which were also crackle painted and inked.

The image I used is a Sugar Nellie stamp ~ Leanne Ellis: Catch a Falling Star.
I coloured her with my copics and gave her a little Prima flower with red brad centre. I also gave her a real star, made as above.

Thank you for looking.

bright and beautiful

The Sunday Challenge this week at Dottie's World has been set by Juliet:

'All Things Bright and Beautiful'.....evoking thoughts of Spring and Easter. The challenge is simply to make a project using 'bright and beautiful' colours and embellishments - of course featuring one of the downloads too.'
I am also entering this into the sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday where they have an absolutely brilliant sketch. Although my image is a little large so have had to twiddle the sketch slightly to fit all the elements in.

Here is my take:

For my card I used the image of Madison in China and I coloured her with my copics. It doesn't show up too well in the photo but I layered her trousers, tunic and left arm up on foam pads to add a bit of dimension to the card.

The stem of the parasol is a cocktail stick! All papers used are from the Cosmo Cricket ~ Hey Sugar range. The flowers are stamped images which I cut out and then layered with Hero Arts flowers. All ribbons are from my stash and the brads are by Papermania.
Thank you for looking.
