santa claus is coming to town

Good morning! Friday at last and a new challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity where the theme is CHRISTMAS!

So today I have made another mixed media collage incorporating a picture. It has a bit of a Bruce Springsteen feel to it, I can picture Bruce roaring up in this chariot!

So my background is all kinds of stuff, papers and paints and doilies. I'm really loving using the distress paints at the moment for these collages, they are so vibrant in colour.

The trees I cut from a Magnolia die.

The santa in his car is cut from Pink Paislee ~ Father Christmas papers.

Oh! Christmas tree

Hello! Today we have a non-traditional Christmas challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity, so use non-traditional colours, images etc to create you Christmas creation.

I've made another collage incorporating the skills I've learned so far.

I created this on a non-sticky backed canvas piece. Love how it has held it's shape, although my photos don't show that! 

My tree is a little bit higgledy piggledy, first it sways to the left and then it sways to the right.

Here are some close up so you can get a feel for the texture.

Top of the tree with a Prima butterfly. I tried to stick so many things to the top of this tree and they would not stay stuck, even with glossy accents, so I guess they weren't meant to be! I finally struck gold with this butterfly.

I've got a whole box of rub-ons which I've bought over the years and never used, so I am having great fun using them up now. I came across these Christmas lights and knew they would be perfect for my tree.

The sparkly things are some little sequins I received as a freebie with a package I ordered.I used them all here.

red & white santa

Ooh, it's nearly Christmas! It seems forever since I've been here, I nipped over to Thailand for two and a half weeks :)

Look at this baby jumbo, only six months old. He was so cute, he just wanted to play.

Now I have 17 glorious days off work! Lots of time to get crafty, I hope! This is a real luxury for me, to have some time at home. Seems strange to just be chilling out after a really hectic year.

Anyway, today at Crafts 4 Eternity we have an ANYTHING GOES challenge.

Last weekend I decided I need to make some very quick cards and so this is what I came up with.

I used a Spellbinders ~ Floral oval die to cut the frame.

The flower is made from a Spellbinders ~ Poinsettia die.

12 days of Christmas

Woohoo! Today we have a CHRISTMAS theme at Crafts 4 Eternity. Well I don't often bow to Christmas, but I decided to make an album that I've been wanting to do ever since I got into papercrafting and that is a 12 days of Christmas mini album. I warn you now, this is photo heavy! 

For the cover I used a Spellbinders ~ Poinsettia die.

This is quite a chunky album and here are the pages.

Second page: for each left hand page I made a pocket for a pull out tag, meant for journalling that day's page. The right hand page is for adding the photographic memory of that day.

The first day of Christmas starts with Christmas day.

Papers ~ I've used a mixture from Making Memories, Simple Stories and Authentique.

Day 3 doesn't have a pullout tag.

 

Day 4: You might notice that the binding edges of each pages are covered with washi tape.

Hello everyone,

Today at Crafts 4 Eternity we have an embellishment bingo recipe. I have used: snowflake, bling and doily. In fact as you can see, I've used quite a lot of bling!

Paper: S.E.I. ~ Glitzmas: Frosty the Snowflake.

I made my trees using the Magnolia ~ Spruce die, inked up the edges and added some bling.

The square diecuts were made using Spellbinders ~ Fleur de lis squares.

There should be four little pearls on the mat, but one pinged off as I was trying to put it on and after a brief search, realised that there was little hope of finding it!

I've used Tim Holtz Sizzix ~ Snow Flurries die across the top ...

 

... and some Webster's Pages ~ Botanical Christmas Gems across the bottom.

oh Christmas tree

I've come over all Christmassy and not before time! 

This is my entry for this week's Crafts 4 Eternity challenge, where we have this fabulous sketch and are also required to use shades of green. 

Although I'm a little late with my entry, there is plenty of time to play along as the challenge runs up to 6th January, so if you find yourself with some spare crafty time over the holidays, then why not join in.

For my card I used Basic Grey ~ Eskimo Kisses: Evergreen and Finial.

The image is Magnolia ~ Tilda with Small Christmas Fir Tree which I've just realised is from the 2009 Christmas collection, so she's waited a long time for me to ink her up!! I coloured her with copics and added some stickles.

She is standing on a piece of white Bazzill and I just rubbed some green stickles around the edges to give some extra sparkle.

Christmas! and Day 3 {part} ~ Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas 2010

I was actually working on my Tim Holtz Day 3 tag but decided that I 'need' that speckled stamp he uses, so managed to get most of the way through it before I had to stop. After waiting all week, the stamp finally arrived today, so I can now get on with finishing it.

Whilst I was waiting and having decided to get on with making Christmas cards, I decided to use the inking technique again that Tim used on the Day 3 ~ 12 tags of Christmas. 

So here it is. Please excuse the bad picture, my iMac blurs my photos when I rotate them and now it is too dark to take another. (If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong please let me know!)

Image Magnolia ~ Lucia Tilda. She is one of my favourites. I coloured her with copics and added some stickles. I have also used the Magnolia ~ Christmas text stamp on the tag.

 

 

The background music paper is Teresa Collins ~ Noel: Sheet Music, which is really good quality thick cardstock. Lovely!

home for the holidays vintage Christmas paper bag album

This project took a little while in the making, as I had to keep putting it aside to do other things, but it is finished now! I quite enjoyed pottering about with it and coming back to it from time to time.

Warning: This post is VERY photo heavy.

For my paper bag album I used the theme: Home for the holidays.

All papers used in this project come from the Bo Bunny ~ Be Good collection. I pretty much used them all up and must now resist the urge to go and buy them all again, because they are so delish.

For the house I used a Maya Road chipboard house which I decorated with the papers. The windows were made from a Sizzix ~ Haunted House die, I just added a bit of stickles to look like snow. The door is a button, I wrapped some thread around it and added some stickles. Do you like the smoke rising from the chimney? That was a die cut from the paper collection.

Here is the inside of the front cover.

I've used 6" x 12" paper bags and used them for their entire length.

At the bottom right hand corner on the front of each bag, I have machine stitched a letter from the Bo Bunny die cuts and as you go through the album, it spells out the word 'home'.

Each bag has two pull out inserts which run the entire length of the bag.

Here is the back of the 'h' bag.

All sentiments, tags etc are all from the same Bo Bunny collection.

Each pull out insert has a little lace tag attached with staples.

I love this Santa. He was taken from a Crafty Individuals paper pad and glued to a Tim Holtz ~ Fragment. I then embossed the edges with gold. I love the vintagey effect it gives. I added a little tinkling bell.

You may have noticed that at the opening of each bag, I have made a fastening. As it is a vertical album, I didn't want the tags falling out the bottom of the bags. They could become quite heavy once photos and other memorabilia are added to them.
