Hellloooo! Oh my word! It's been a while since I last blogged. Just over a month! Where has the Summer gone and now it is winter again :( Or at least it feels like it!

Today we have a new challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity which is a cute kids child theme.

I have used these gorgeous papers: Crate Paper ~ Little Bo Peep.

I created an envelope using the Sizzix Tim Holtz ~ Pocket Envelope die and decorated it.

There is a pull out tag.

boarding pass ~ pastures new

Oh my word! I can't believe I've just had two weeks off work and this is the first blog post I am writing this year. I have no idea where the time has gone, but clearly, when I am at home I don't have enough {me} time! I haven't even had time to go blog hopping, so I must rectify that asap.

My New Year's Resolution is to use up my stash and not buy anything new unless I 'need' it. I will define 'need' as the year progresses. LOL. At the moment, I define 'need' as Magnolia stamps and My Mind's Eye papers.

So, today I an joining you from Cupcake Craft Challenges where the challenge this week is: Something New. Well I have interpreted this as moving to pastures new, hence the travel theme.

Although I do insist on an iron and ironing board at the other end, I cannot bear to wear anything wrinkled. Coloured with copics and a few stickles.

As this is my first post of the New Year, I should end by saying 'Happy New Year!'. Unfortunately, I didn't see the New Year in, as I was poorly at the time and just slept through it all. Woke up at 1am with Jools Holland blaring on the box. How I slept through that, I don't know, as it was very noisy. It's a really weird feeling missing the New Year, I think it is the first time for me and it's kind of like it hasn't happened yet.

cherished moment

Due to the gorgeously sunny weather we've had today, I've come over all summery! It's so nice to think that we have those lovely Spring and Summer days ahead for us to look forward to.

The image that I used is one that I saw a lot of when I first started creating. I bought the stamp at the time but never got around to using it. Having a rummage through my stamp box, I came across her and so here she is. No doubt you will be seeing me creating with her again soon.

I didn't know what else to call this post. As much as I love frogs ... and I do ... if I had one balanced on my head, I would think him pesky!

so lovely ... purple ice ballet princess

There is a fabulous sketch at Just Magnolia this week which I am using.

I am also entering this into TWO other challenges.

At Theme Thursday the challenge is 'to use purple as one of your main colours'.

Use It Challenges have a recipe challenge: Use a new technique (see my tag), use a virgin stamp (I have never used this one before) and use papers you haven't used before.

Here is my card:

All papers used are from the Crate Paper ~ Katlin collection. I layered them up and inked the edges with purple.

I created the tag by cutting a piece of acetate with my cricut. I then tried a technique which was new to me. I inked a swirly seat horizontally for Tilda to sit on using a stamp from Paperartsy ~ Squiggly Ink: Swirls & Curls 1. I then added some swirly circles using stamps from Paperartsy ~ Squiggly Ink: Swirls & Curls 2. If I did this again I think a purple ink would look better, but I didn't have any which would stick to acetate. On the back of the circles I added some crystal stickles and I added purple twilight paint to the edges with a paint dabber.

The image is Magnolia ~ Pink Tilda Ice Ballet Princess and I coloured her with my copics. This is the first time I've ever coloured one of these images where all the clothes are the same colour.

The 'So lovely' sentiment is a rub on by We R Memory Keepers. I rubbed it onto purple cardstock, stuck it to a piece of chipboard and then cut it out.

Flowers are a mixture of Prima and Hero Arts. The jewelled brads are by Papermania.

life isn't a straight line

After playing in the first challenge at Ready Steady Stamp, I was really looking forward to seeing what the ingredients for the second challenge would be.

Here they are:

I thought this would be an easy one. I made my 'sun' almost immediately, but then came to a grinding halt. It sat there for a few days tormenting me and several times I went to throw it in the bin, but didn't.

Finally, I knew what I was going to do.

The papers are from Crate Paper ~ Lemon Grass Collection and I used a bit of almost every sheet.

I made my sun by stamping some 'rays' onto heat resistant acetate and embossing them with Tim Holtz ~ Distress Powder in varying shades. I then machine stitched the acetate to a piece of cardstock and distressed the edges. The stamp that I used for my rays is from the Paperartsy ~ Squiggly Ink: Bricks & Mortar 3 collection.

The 'life isn't a straight line' sentiment is from the same collection.

Here is what I ended up with.

As usual with the photos on my blog, just click on any one to get a closer view.

I made my rolling hills by tearing up strips of cardstock and inking and distressing the edges. I added a nice fat chunky strip of ribbon at the foot of the card.

The little buildings were made by stamping them out from Paperartsy ~ Squiggly Ink: Bricks and Mortar 3 collection several times onto different sheets of cardstock. I then embossed each one, mounted them on to chipboard and cut them out. I accented each house by adding layers from each of the different sheets of cardstock that I'd used.

Finally, I added little round epoxy stickers in different colours (including yellow) from the same Crate Paper collection as the papers. I don't know why. Coloured rain maybe??

buttons

My card today fits in with two challenges.

As soon as I saw the sketch at CPS I knew that I would use it for my next card.

I am also entering the challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar where the theme is 'buttons'.

I used the same papers as I had used on my previous card, from the Crate Paper ~ Sweet Branch collection. However this time I put more emphasis on the green and picked up on the blue, purple and brown.

Here is my card:

I used green bazzil cardstock for matting and stitched the layers by machine with dark brown thread to provide a contrast.

For the horizontal band, I stitched a piece of ribbon to the card and sewed on some buttons by hand in co-ordinating colours to match the colours in the patterned card.

The image is a Gorjuss Girl with her cat and I coloured her with my copics.

Flowers are a mixture from my stash and I finished the centre with a sugar coated brad.

getting sticky

Today I have been getting sticky in the Sugar Bowl where they have a fabulous sketch for this week's challenge:

The additional ingredient to the challenge is to use buttons.

For my card I used papers from the Crate Paper ~ Sweet Branch collection, which I matted and stitched with my sewing machine.

For the three horizontal lines in the sketch, I used sheer white ribbon which I held in place by sewing on a button at each end, in different colours to match the papers. Overall I was trying to accentuate the orange, white and green parts of the papers.

Here is my card:

With the flower decoration, I again kept to the orange white and green theme.

The image is of course a Gorjuss Girl and I coloured her with my copics.

I created the scallop border on each side by layering up inks in graduating shades and then embossing it.

explore ...

The Everybody-Art-Challenge this week, is a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch which I followed.

In addition, I am also entering my card into two other challenges:

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge which has a theme of 'torn edges'; and

ABC Challenge where 'D is for distressing'.

Well I think there are plenty of torn edges and distressing going on here.

All papers used are from Crate Paper ~ Hampton Collection. Brads are by Making Memories and ribbons from my stash. The 'explore' snap is by We R Memory Keepers.

The image is Gorjuss Girl ~ A Little Bird Told Me. I have coloured her up with my Copics.

As you can see there is a lot of inking and tearing and curling of edges.
