12 days of Christmas

Woohoo! Today we have a CHRISTMAS theme at Crafts 4 Eternity. Well I don't often bow to Christmas, but I decided to make an album that I've been wanting to do ever since I got into papercrafting and that is a 12 days of Christmas mini album. I warn you now, this is photo heavy! 

For the cover I used a Spellbinders ~ Poinsettia die.

This is quite a chunky album and here are the pages.

Inside cover:

First page:

Second page: for each left hand page I made a pocket for a pull out tag, meant for journalling that day's page. The right hand page is for adding the photographic memory of that day.

The first day of Christmas starts with Christmas day.

Papers ~ I've used a mixture from Making Memories, Simple Stories and Authentique.

Day 3 doesn't have a pullout tag.

 

Day 4: You might notice that the binding edges of each pages are covered with washi tape.

vintage 2012 calendar

Hello, I hope you all had a good weekend, over too soon I know. But Monday is Cupcake day so can't be too bad. So, over at Cupcake Craft Challenges, we have a new challenge, which is colour on kraft.

Well I must admit, when I first saw this challenge, my heart sank. I thought I could never colour on kraft with copics. BUT ... WOW!! I started colouring and was amazed how easy it was. The only difference was that my darkest shade of each colour had to be a shade darker than I usually use. 

From the outset, I had decided I would make a 2012 calendar in a cd case.

 

Papers used throughout: Making Memories ~Travel 6 x 6 pad. So good to use some of these papers as I've had them for 3 years and never been used.

Image: Magnolia ~Tilda in Spring Rain. I coloured her with copics and added some stickles.

I made the flowers with my Marianne Design ~ English Rose die. So awesome, I love this! Need never buy another flower again ... but don't hold me to that! I added some stickles to glitz it up a bit.

I made the template for the calendar using excel. Took me forever, but I am pleased with the end result.

Heureux Anniversaire

I am terribly late with last Friday's challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity which is to use: Hearts, Glitter & Pins. I will keep this short and sweet as I am sooo tired, but you still have a couple of days to join in.

Some of the photos are rubbish ... sorry blame the weather.

I used Making Memories ~ I Do papers.

The image is a collage sheet by PaperArtsy which I edged with stickles, as I did also for the printed circle transparency.

I added some bling and lace from Prima and Webster's Pages. I didn't like the pin having a pointy end dangling, so rummaged through my Mill Hill beads stash and found some colours to match. Popped them on there, then put some glossy accents on the end so that they wouldn't fall off.

I used my new Magnolia tag die, to make the little tag poking out.

Thanks for all your lovely comments recently, which I really do appreciate. I will be round to leave you all some love just as soon as I get some spare time. Hopefully soon!

Oh my word, it's another Friday and the end of the month already, I don't know where it's gone. I keep meaning to blog during the week (as I do make things more than once a week) but time escapes me ... so far. So on to this week's challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity which is POLKA DOTS! Such fun and easy too.

I've used Christmas papers for this Valentines. I have so many ... Christmas papers that is, that I need to use them for other things besides Christmas, where I can.

Papers: Making Memories:Mistletoe ~ Glitter Big Red Dot and Trees (although not a tree in sight as I flipped the paper).

The velvet hydrangea flowers are Petaloo. I added the end of a Tim Holtz ticket as it has been sitting on my craft table for a while and seemed to fit.

sweet.love: Day 4 ~ Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas 2010

Well I've finally made it through to my 4th Tim Holtz tag, which is anything but Christmas themed. I've not had much time for crafting this week, what with Christmassy things going on! I am still determined to carry on working my way through the tags though and I've already done one more than I did last year!!

Now I should have learned my lesson from last year, that alcohol ink and me do not go. I didn't have any of the facets used in the project but did have the fragments and so used those. When I tried the alcohol ink technique, I either managed to dab away the whole of the ink, not just the image part or else the image left behind was not particularly exciting. 

So I contented myself with gluing my fragments to papers.

I used a piece of ruler paper with the number 14 on it and a clock image both cut from the Tim Holtz ~ Lost & Found paper stack and glued them on to the back of the fragments with glossy accents. I then embossed the edges with gold embossing powder and rubbed some rock candy stickles onto the clock face, before adding some game spinners and a little gem.

The tag was made out of Bo Bunny ~ Persuasion: My Sweet paper and the pink spotty paper is Making Memories.

Well of course, not mine!

I didn't use a sketch for this, I just went with the flow. I am entering this into the following challenges:

Film strip ribbon: Tim Holtz.

Our wedding sentiment: Teresa Collins stamp, which I embossed and added a vintage feel to match the film strip.

Image: Lili of the Valley ~ Wedding Couple, which is my absolute favourite wedding stamp image to date. Coloured with copics and added lots of stickles. You'll need to click the pics to get a better feel of what this looks like in all its glitziness!

                       

I've added lots of glimmer mist to the purple roses but it never seems to show up in the photos.

The sketch: StampARTic. The challenge here is also 'cheap crafting'. I may have a few embellishments but I didn't buy anything new for this, I just used stuff from my stash :-)

'Hearts': A Spoon Full of Sugar.

'Favourite colour combo': Everybody-Art-Challenge. Mine is definitely red, white and black ... at the moment, although it is a colour combo I have loved all my life. Red is a colour that I have really struggled to colour with, but I keep practising with it because I love the dramatic effect it gives and I can't let a little thing like not being able to do something, beat me.

'Stamp with another use': Magnolia Down Under Challenge. I have used a halloween stamp for valentine's (couldn't you just guess?).

My finished piece was originally 8" x 8" but I placed it onto a piece of red 12 x 12 bazzil to photograph it. I've now decided that I like the big red border so much that I am going to incorporate the bigger card. Just wanted to explain a) why it doesn't look square and b) why you can see the layer sticking up at the bottom.

                          

Papers: Making Memories ~ Wedding. The heart shape has stickles around the edges.

Clock: Heidi Swapp stamp which I embossed and added stickles to the edges.

Lace (at top of heart): dabbed with silver paint and stickles added.

Flowers: sprayed with Glimmer Mist ~ Old Lace. If you only buy one colour of glimmer mist (as it is quite pricey), I would recommend you buy this one as it is so versatile.

Red glitter brads.

                                           

Images: Magnolia ~ Devil Tilda from the 'So Spooky' collection and the heart from the new collection. Both have been coloured with copics and stickles added. I layered the heart and added a 'Love' rub-on to the middle.

For the main piece, I embossed the edges with black and red glitter embossing powder, before machine stitching the edges. You might notice that the machine went a bit crazy with the zig zag. This is because it is old and I need a new one. I've asked santa for a new one, but he is quite forgetful, so I have to remind him every day. Well that's fine, I will do that until I know it is safely on his sleigh! LOL. I did show him this as an example of why I need a new one and his response was that nobody would notice. Well I guess that's the beauty of hand made!

Brad: SEI ~ I'll have run out of these by the time I get to use the matching paper that I bought them for!

I dry embossed the paper that Tilda is standing on with a snowflake embossing folder. The edges have been punched with a Martha Stewart ~ Snowflake border punch. I've added some more red and gold glitter embossing. Tilda is standing on snow ~ also known as Cosmic Shimmer ~ Glitter Jewels.

I've recently discovered a fab set of papers in my stash and although these are Christmas themed papers I wanted to go for more of a winter and less of a Christmas feel.

I am using this set of papers for my next piece but I will be using different papers from the set together with one of my new Christmas Magnolias. Which one? You'll see soon! She is all coloured up, in fact I coloured her before I made this one. I was just waiting for the right sketch to come up (which it now has) as I have a certain look in my head for her. So I hope to share that one with you soon.
